Fixed
Dont even go there.
Besides, the way I remember it, they were just there and didnt have anything else to do. I can relate...I've done some strange things because I was bored.

Sorry about the thread lock on your General post. But I'd like to point out that the other guy had a political axe to grind, not me.

Originally by: Derovius Vaden The only reason the Americas weren't beaten senseless by the English Army was because the Americans were outfitted with arms and munitions by the French. (Not to mention that Napoleon sold French holdings in the Americas for a pitence of their true value.).
This is find almost sadly ironic, because for as much as you Americans owe the French your freedom, you still treat them like crap. Almost like a spoiled child does its parent.
So would you call the liberation of France in WWII?
Or assisting them in Vietnam shortly before they left completely? (the rest of vietnam was a complete disaster, thats not even debateable)
No, the reason there is so much resentment between the US and France is because both countries think they're better than each other. Both think their **** doesnt stink. We just dont whine about France from a UN pulpit like they do us.

Seriously Cleveland Steam..... I'm from the states, and I jsut read this and shook my head.
Yeah that's all i can really say... Happy 4th to those of you in the US. Those of you not in teh US, i apologise that you were subject to this.
And I apologize to anyone that read my original post (see "Flamebait") and thought it was anything beyond a friendly nudge. But see, thats part of the problem. You chose to take that seriously, and thats your fault. So yes, indeed, apologize.
You guys see whatever you want to see anyway. IT WAS A JOKE.
I made a joke thread poking at myself, my country, and the stereotype I'm sure you folks have - you all are the ones that decided to take the opportunity and make it personal. Good job world. And you say we consider ourselves the "Moral Police" when all I hear from you is criticism.

1. The reason the US decided that ****** was a bad man was because they were attacked by his allies. If the Japanese never attacked Pearl Harbour, you Americans would have been content to sit on your side of the world while he gased all those people for being "undesirable".
2. The US entered Vietnam because there was a chance the nation would be overrun by communists. Because Americans know best, and those evil, evil communists can't be allowed to spread, they threw arms and soldiers at the NVA. And you know what, you still lost; the communists won, invaded and are still in power.
3. The French don't win from the "UN pulpit" as you describe it, they try and talk sense to a war hungry dog who thinks that if they bomb the ever loving **** out of something, it will somehow change its mind. If you listened to the French, you'd not be up to your neck in **** in Iraq. Oh, but they had WMD's right? While the French wanted to wait, and get proof, the US dove in head first "who needs proof, I gots the nukez!".
1. We were coming out of the worst economic disaster our country had ever seen. No **** we were hesitant to commit to something like that without giving it serious consideration. Politicians were scared that it would throw us back into another depression. In case you're not familiar with it, google the "Great Depression". It kind of had an effect on the US for a number of years, to include those in which you are addressing.
2. France was there first. Contrary to popular belief, the US was asked to assist with the problem. Though there were secondary goals - of which keeping communism in check was one of them. No one can deny that...but to ignore France's role in the whole debacle is irresponsible.
3. Chirac was a condescending jerk. Freedom fries was a simple, low-brow way the people could respond. In retrospect im sure a lot of people are embarassed about it, but c'mon. Dude was a jerk.
Anyways. A point that I would like to make is that it is possible to poke fun at the US without being so blatantly hostile. Things that you can point out are as follows:
-We always wear white socks -We have the fashion sense of a blind raccoon -***** packs (srsly, wtf is up with ***** packs) -Many of us have weight issues -We tend to be naive when it comes to world affairs, but I attribute most of that to the fact that we are not expected to care
Edit: I completely forgot that f@nny is a bad word in the UK? Thats funny to me. Its like a hip purse.
